Suggestions
How can I make a feature suggestion?
We are very interested in your suggestions. We understand that the features you want added
to a product can be very important to you. The best way to make suggestions is here. We do listen and implement many customer suggestions.
Suggestions not taken.
We receive thousands of valued requests for features. We can only
implement those specific ones that meet a variety of conditions. It
often seems like a small feature you need "must" be needed by
"thousands" of other users. However most users feel this way and we
cannot implement everything - although we would like to. We carefully
consider and track suggestions and those not included in one version may
well be included in a future version. We also give higher priority to
suggestions of customers that have licensed multiple copies of our
products.
Do you plan to add feature X to product Y?
We do not publish our product feature plans. However we do keep a large database of
customer requests and we carefully review the database for each release.
When will you make the change I suggested?
Although we appreciate requests to change or improve our products, we don't publish and
often don't know when or if a change will be incorporated into a product. This is because
we have to prioritize a large database of customer reports and suggestions and cannot
implement everything. Some changes are incorporated into interim releases and many are
incorporated into the next major release, however we do not offer commitments as to which
kind of release will be used or whether a specific change will be made. If there is a
change that you feel you need now, we encourage you to find a way to work with the product
as is and ask for your patience. We do expend significant effort prioritizing the requests
of our customers and encourage you to watch our web site for news about new versions. |
Product features
Why did you remove or change a feature in an upgrade?
We try hard to make all upgrades do everything prior versions did and with the same
commands. We know how difficult it can feel to relearn a command. However, occasionally we
remove or change a command. The reasons are sometimes explained in the upgrading chapter
of some products. Generally we make these changes to align with strong conventions of
other products. If everyone in the world uses F2 for edit and we were using it for Search,
we'll probably change it in an upgrade making it easier to learn and use other products
along with ours. Also, sometimes we move rarely used commands to a less visible part of
the interface to prevent menus from becoming too long.
MAC emulation
Some of our products work on the MAC under emulation. Win CE,
Linux, Unix, etc.
We only support the platforms listed on the order form. We do
not support the above platforms.
What
type of documentation is provided?
All products include comprehensive on-line documentation. The on-line
documentation can be printed.
