Info Select for Palm Organizer - Synchronization problems
If you encounter any difficulty in synchronizing data between your Palm and your PC, or between two Palms, see the following solutions.

Synchronizing Palm Organizer with PC.
Install Palm CD
Before you can synchronize any Palm
software, install the software that comes on the CD supplied with
your Palm device.
Check Info Select for Palm version
On your Palm unit choose Info Select | menu | Help | About. If there
is a letter T in your version you have the Trial version which does not
sync with Info Select for Windows - it only runs stand-alone. If you have
a version earlier than 1.08f download the current version.
Confirm HotSync is running
In the system tray, in the lower right corner of your screen, look for the HotSync icon. If absent, run
Hot Sync manager or install Hot Sync manager from the CD that came with
your Palm Organizer.
In Info Select 8, uncheck the Tools | Options | Saving | Allow automatic data file recovery after power failure & system crash option.
Confirm Info Select conduit is installed
In the system tray click the HotSync icon and choose Custom. If Info
Select is not listed click here.
HotSync twice to install
During installation, HotSync once to install the application and again to copy
the default POPC syncbase to Info Select for Windows.
Put your data in POPC
Only data in POPC (or another syncbase pair) will get transferred - that is
data below and indented to the right of the syncbase - data that is
visible when the triangle next to POPC points down and is not visible when
POPC is collapsed with the triangle pointing to the right.
Review HotSync log
In the system tray click the HotSync icon and choose View Log.
In the most recent log review any InfoSelect troubleshooting messages and
follow the instructions provided there.
Redo download
Try downloading again from this web site.
Restart system after installation
Reboot your system after installing Info Select for Palm or the Palm CD
software.
Restart your computer
Try restarting your PC.
Reset your Syncbases
If you disconnected your Palm Organizer during synchronization or feel
that your syncbases might be corrupted, or other solutions fail, then: 1)
Backup your data. 2) In Info Select for Windows choose Tools | Options
| Info Select Skill Level and set Advanced skill level; next,
for each syncbase do the following: 3) Select the appropriate syncbase and
apply Tools | Sync | Clear Sync Info. Respond to any confirmation
dialogs. 4) On the Palm select the same syncbase and apply Tools |
Clear Sync Info. Respond to any confirmation dialogs. 5) Try to sync
again.
Setup properly if syncing more than one Palm to a PC
If you synchronize two or more Palm Organizers with one PC: 1) In
the System tray, click the HotSync icon. 2) Choose
Custom. 3) In the combo box choose your unit name. 4) Select Info Select
from conduit list and press Change. 5) Select Synchronize Data, mark Set
As Default and press OK. 6) Try to sync.
Setup properly if syncing more than one PC to a Palm
If you synchronize multiple desktop/handheld computers with one Palm,
select one computer and syncbase as the master. Sync the other computers only with the master.
Reinstall Info Select for Palm and/or HotSync
If all else fails try deleting all syncbases and reinstall Info Select
for Palm and/or HotSync.
Reinstall everything
If using XP login to XP as Administrator. Backup your data. Then re-install Info Select Windows, then Palm
Desktop, then Info Select Palm. (We had some reports of this resolving issues.)
Try a different Palm Organizer
Try installing Info Select for Palm to a different Palm Organizer.
Try a different PC
Try syncing with a different PC.
Split Syncbase
If you are getting errors such as "Sync failed - unknown error reported by
Palm", and you tried resetting the Syncbases as described above, consider
sending your data to us for analysis or try splitting the
data into a few Syncbases. If splitting does not fix the problem it should
at least localize the problem. If the problem occurs in one of the split
Syncbases you can try splitting that Syncbase further until you locate the
data causing the problem.
Delete syncbases
Delete all syncbases and create new ones.
Error - Data not in proper format
The syncbase must contain only Notes and Topics. For example there must be
no Files (floppy disk icon) or other special data types.
Sync errors not from Info Select
Reinstall palm software.
Follow these guidelines twice
You may have more than one problem and need to repeat some of the
solutions.
Date Book is not synchronized
In Info Select for Windows, right-click on the Calendar item and choose
"Synced with Palm". Also, right-click on the Hotsync icon in the system
tray, choose "Custom...", select Date Book and click "Change..." to change
Hotsync action to "Synchronize data".
